Many believe that the life of Jesus Christ was one of the most influential in the history of the world. However, his life alone does not explain the impact he has on the world today. He was crucified on a cross, a method of punishment used by the Roman authorities at that time. Some remembered he had claimed he would rise again: a guard was placed at his tomb so that his followers could not steal the body and then falsely claim he had risen.
As we consider who Jesus is, we are brought face to face this week with some core issues. What significance is there in the death of Jesus Christ? Why do people claim that he did rise again, and does it matter whether he did or didn't? Is it possible to simply conclude that Jesus was a man who lived a good life and then died, and leave it at that?
